Alex Ovechkin, Alexander Mikhailovich Ovechkin  is a Russian ice hockey winger as well as captain of the Washington Capitals of the national Hockey League. Ovechkin was born in 17 September 1985 in Moscow, Russian SFSR, Soviet Union to his parents Mikhail Ovechkin (father) and Tatyana Ovechkin (mother).

Before joining the NHL, he used to play for HC Dynamo Moscow of the Russian Superleague from 2001 to 2005. Ovechkin was selected in 2004 NHL Entry Draft by the Capitals first overall.  He also won the Calder Memorial Trophy as rookie of the year in the 2005-2006 season after joining Capitals. He also said “it is his second home”.

Speaking of his achievements and awards, he has won several of trophies like Rocket Richard Trophy six times, the Art Ross Trophy, Hart Memorial Trophy, Lester B. Pearson Award and many more.  Alex  Ovechkin was listed in the top 100 Greatest NHL Players of all-time.

His future was sheen in his small age when he was two years old, he picked a toy hockey stick in a toy store and refused to let it go. Alex Ovechkin parents treasured the picture till the day. His second sign was, he stopped playing his toys whenever the hockey game was shown on TV and refuses to change the channel.  At the age of 8 Ovechkin enrolled in hockey school.

Alex Ovechkin’s single days are over.  He got married to a model Nastya Shubskaya in a small private wedding. He also posted his wedding pictures on some social media like Twitter and Instagram.

His net worth grew as he became a famous ice hockey player. Ovechkin signed a 13 years contract with the Washington Capitals on 10 of January 2008 worth of $124 million.
