Nicklas Lidstrom (2)Nicklas Lidstrom is a former professional ice hockey player. He was born in 28th April, 1970, Krylbo, Sweden. He is a defenceman of his team and has played 20 seasons in the National Hockey League (NHL) where he captained in Detroit Red Wings for six seasons of the career.

Nicklas is also known among the very few elite hockey players to have joined the Triple Gold Club, representing an Olympic Gold Medal, a Stanley Cup win, and a World Championship victory. Nicklas Lidstrom has won four Stanley Cup championships, one Conn Smythe Trophy as the playoff MVP, seven James Norris Memorial Trophies during his 20 NHL seasons and his team never missed the postseason too and he was selected for the “Best European-trained player ever in NHL by the Hockey News.

He was also the second Europea-born captain of the Stanley Cup winning team as well as the first European player named playoff MVP.  The Swedish-born defenceman was drafted 53rd overall by the Detroit Red Wings in the 1989 NHL Entry Draft and in VIK Vasteras HK he spent three seasons in the Swedish Elite League

When Lidstrom earned a Calder Trophy nomination and was named to NHL’s All-Rookoe Team in 1991-92, he just joined the Detroit Red wings. Among all the awards, one of the awards is James Norris Memorial Trophy as the best blueliner on the seven occasions league.
